BSA Research - Examples of our work include: compiling lists of approvals for certain types of applications in certain neighborhoods or community districts (i.e. every successful application for residential use in a manufacturing district in Chelsea during the tenure of the current Chair); identifying and retrieving documents from similar applications (i.e. the Statement of Facts from the last three cases where the Board granted a variance citing subsoil conditions as a hardship); researching the series of prior actions on a specific property (i.e. chain of applications for an SOC application).
DCP Research - Examples of our work include: drafting and filing FOIL requests with the agency, and then attending to the document review that follows (i.e. retrieving specific documents from specific applications); compiling lists of approvals for certain types of applications in certain neighborhoods or community districts (i.e. every Special Permit to allow ground floor retail in a manufacturing district in SoHo).
Nonconforming Use/Signs - If you need to perform research to establish a nonconforming use or sign, look no further. We pride ourselves on being the most thorough researchers you'll find. And while we can't promise we'll find something, that's only because it may not exist. From Sanborn Maps and online image searches, to research at the Municipal Archives, the Historical Society, the Public Libraries in all five boroughs, the libraries of every university in the City, aerial photos, private photograph collections and so on. We leave no stone unturned.
Attend ECB Hearings - There's nothing worse than spending your entire morning at ECB when all you're after is an adjournment. If you can't attend, don't want to, or traveling to the outer boroughs early in the morning is inconvenient, contact us. We can help, and we have extensive experience at ECB.
